Nabil Bank is a pioneering Bank in many ways, but this product focused on their empowering step in marketing. In a time where brand image is highly polished and measured to be as attractive as possible, Nabil focused on showing Basanti Pariyar, an acid attack victim as the face of their newest campaign.
When we were tapped by Makeways Agency for the project, we instantly saw the inspirational tale Basanti’s lived experience can prove to be. Makeways also wanted to experiment with the presentation of the documentary – connecting elements of commercial videos with narrative documentary. The project definitely was both sensitive as well as on a tight timeframe with limited time for covering Basanti and her family owing to their schedule.
Forgoing a usual on-location shoot, we chose to film the interviews and key images in our studio, simulating a few outdoor scenes required for the story in stand-in locations. The interview itself was highly involved, with nearly 9 hours later meticulously edited to present a cohesive, moving portrait of a woman overcoming the odds.
The final film mixes our expertise in content editing, studio set-ups and an extensive collaboration with Makeways. The final story shows not only Nabil’s focus into being an innovative pioneering Bank, but also showcases a family that embodies Nabil’s philosophy of moving “together ahead.”
